# Connect BloFin with a read-only key

Flicker reads positions, balances and orders with this key. Where BloFin reports its permissions, Flicker refuses a key that can trade or withdraw, so create a read-only one.

## On BloFin

1. Sign in to BloFin and open its API key settings.
2. Create a new API key and name it Flicker.
3. Give the key read-only access. Leave every trading, transfer and withdrawal permission off.
4. Set a passphrase for the key and keep it: Flicker needs it too.
5. Restrict the key to Flicker's IP address, 18.153.160.58. BloFin expires a key with no IP restriction after 90 days.
6. Copy the key and its secret.
7. Paste it below. Where the exchange reports it, Flicker checks what the key can do before saving it.

## If something goes wrong

When BloFin rejects a key, check that it was copied whole, has read access and allows 18.153.160.58. Each message below comes with its fix.

- **BloFin rejected this key.** — Create a new read-only key on BloFin and paste it here.
- **BloFin refused the request.** — Try again in a minute. If it repeats, create a new key.
- **Couldn't reach BloFin.** — Try again in a minute.
- **Too many key checks.** — Try again in an hour.
