Profit & Loss Calculator

Calculate exactly how much you made or lost on a trade. Pick any asset — coin or stock — or type your numbers, factor in exchange fees, and share the result.

How it works

  1. 1Pick an asset (we’ll prefill the live price) or type your entry price manually.
  2. 2Enter the exit price you sold at — or want to model — and the dollar amount you invested.
  3. 3Optionally include trading fees (defaults to 0.1%, typical for Binance and Bybit spot).
  4. 4Share the URL, or export a result card for X, Reddit, or Discord.

The math

Long (buy then sell)

(Exit − Entry) × Quantity − Fees

Short (sell then buy back)

(Entry − Exit) × Quantity − Fees

Return on investment

(Net P&L ÷ Investment) × 100

Key concepts

Profit & loss (P&L)

The realized dollar gain or loss on a trade after the position is closed. Positive means you walked away with more than you put in.

Return on investment (ROI)

Net P&L expressed as a percentage of what you invested. Lets you compare trades of different sizes on equal footing.

Trading fees

Most exchanges charge a small percentage on each fill. Fees apply to both the entry and the exit, so a 0.1% fee per side means roughly 0.2% round-trip.

Average buy price

When you accumulate over several buys, your effective cost basis is the volume-weighted average. Multi-trade mode computes this for you.

Break-even price

The price you need to exit at to recover entry and exit fees. Below this price a long trade is still losing money even if the asset is up versus your entry.

Long vs. short

Going long profits when price rises. Shorting (sell first, buy back later) profits when price falls — the formula flips entry and exit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate crypto profit?

Net P&L = (Exit Price − Entry Price) × Quantity − Fees, where Quantity = Investment ÷ Entry Price. ROI is that net P&L divided by your invested amount.

Does this calculator handle multiple buys and sells?

Yes. Switch to Multi-trade mode to add as many fills as you want — we compute volume-weighted average cost, realized P&L, fees, and remaining position automatically.

What fee should I use?

0.1% is the default and matches Binance and Bybit spot. Coinbase is around 0.5% per side, and most DEXes charge 0.3% via the swap pool. Use what your exchange actually charges for an accurate net result.

Is this calculator free?

Yes — completely free, no sign-up required. It runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

Can I share my result?

Yes. Copy link puts your full inputs into the URL so someone opening it sees the same numbers. Download card exports a 1200×630 PNG sized for social media.
