Ethereum analysis 2026: reading its buy zone, stop and targets
What Flicker's Ethereum read shows before you buy: the verdict and how many of six factors agree, each zone's stop and targets, and when to enter.

On this page
Before you buy Ethereum, three questions are worth an answer. Does the chart lean buy, hold or sell? Where would you enter? And where would you get out, if it goes wrong and if it goes right?
Flicker's Ethereum read answers all three on one page. This guide shows how to read it, in the order that matters: the exit before the entry.
Two pages to keep open while you read:
- Should I buy Ethereum? — the verdict, how the six factors voted, and, when there is one, the nearest setup with its stop and target.
- Ethereum analysis — the chart with every zone, the timeframe picker and the factor detail.
The daily read is free, and you don't need an account to see it.
What moves Ethereum
ETH is the second-largest crypto asset by market value. It pays the fees on the Ethereum network, where many tokens and most decentralized finance apps run, and it trades around the clock.
- Bitcoin's direction. On most days ETH moves the same way as Bitcoin, often by more in both directions.
- Network activity. Demand for block space, activity on the networks built on top of Ethereum, and upgrades to the protocol all feed into how people value ETH.
- Staking. Since Ethereum moved to proof of stake in 2022, ETH can be staked to help secure the network, which takes part of the supply off the market. An Ethereum staking calculator shows what a given APR adds up to over time.
- Fund flows. Spot Ether ETFs have traded in the US since July 2024, so money moving in or out of them shows up in the price.
Daily swings in ETH are usually wider than in Bitcoin. That matters for where a stop belongs, which comes up below.
The verdict: buy, hold or sell, and how many factors agree
Flicker reads six factors on Ethereum's chart: trend direction, momentum, Fear & Greed, breakout setup, risk level and cycle phase. Each one leans buy, hold or sell. The verdict is their weighted blend; trend counts most and cycle phase least.
The page shows how they voted, for example "0 buy, 3 hold, 3 sell". The confidence number next to the verdict is how strongly the six agree with it. It is agreement, not a chance of profit: 5 of 6 factors pointing the same way is a clearer read than 3 of 6.
Hold is a real answer. It means the factors don't lean far enough either way, and nothing in the read asks you to act.
Two of the factors have their own pages:
- Ethereum Fear & Greed — Flicker's own reading for ETH, built from its chart, not the market-wide index.
- Ethereum breakout analysis — whether price is pressing against a range and in which direction.
Buy and sell zones: the exit before the entry
The verdict carries no prices. The prices live on zones: areas on the chart where ETH has turned before. A buy zone sits below the last close; a sell zone sits above it.
Every zone comes with the same parts. Read them in this order:
- Stop loss — the level where you'd get out if the idea is wrong. Look at this first and ask whether you could accept a loss down to it.
- Targets — up to two levels where you'd take profit.
- Entry range — the zone itself, from its lower edge to its upper edge.
- Risk/reward — the distance to the first target over the distance to the stop, both measured from the zone's top edge on a buy zone, the worst price you could enter at.
A zone also carries its own strength (strong, moderate or weak), which is a score of the setup, not a forecast.
The stop is sized to Ethereum's own noise
A stop placed just under an obvious level gets hit by ordinary wobble. Flicker puts the stop 1.5 times the average true range (ATR, the average size of the last 14 candles) beyond the zone's edge, measured on the timeframe you're reading. Because ETH's candles are usually larger than Bitcoin's in percentage terms, its stops usually sit further from the zone too. A daily stop answers daily swings; an hourly stop answers hourly ones.
The entry rule: wait for the close
Price touching a buy zone is not the entry. Each zone says how to enter: wait for a candle to close back above the zone's upper edge. On the daily chart that means waiting for the day's candle to finish.
If price drops into the zone and keeps closing lower, there is no entry. If you were already in, the stop is where you'd get out. A sell zone works the other way round: wait for a candle to close back below its lower edge.
Daily is free; other timeframes are Pro
The free plan reads Ethereum on the daily timeframe: the verdict, the zones, their stops and targets. That suits someone who checks once a day and holds for days or weeks.
Pro opens every other timeframe, such as 1 hour or 4 hours. Each timeframe has its own verdict and its own zones, and each stop is sized to that timeframe's candles, so a 1-hour read is a different plan, not a zoomed-in daily one.
Pro is sold on the web and in the Flicker app. Claiming a partner promotion also unlocks a month of Pro at no cost.
Set an alert for when price enters the zone
You don't need to watch the chart while waiting for a zone. An alert needs a free account:
- Open Alerts and choose Create alert.
- Pick Zone alerts and choose Ethereum. On the daily timeframe, a zone alert for a named coin is on the free plan.
- The alert fires while the price is inside a zone's entry range.
When it fires, open the read, check the stop and target are still where you expect, and wait for the close back above the zone before deciding. A plain price alert at the stop or the target works too.
Before you buy: a short checklist
- Verdict: buy, hold or sell, and how many of the six factors agree.
- Stop: where you'd get out, and whether you could take that loss. Size the position so being stopped out is survivable.
- Target and risk/reward: what the first target is worth against the stop.
- Entry: a candle closed back above the zone, not just a touch.
We analyze. You decide. We never trade for you.
